Food donatingSummary: Donate non-perishable food items to local food banks and participate in food drives to ensure that also less fortunate people have food. Scope: International Almost 50 million Americans alone are at risk of hunger, quarter of them children. These people can get help from food banks and other hunger relief organizations. In order for them to have enough food to feed everybody in need, donations are always welcome. To do your share, find a local shelter or food bank in your area and donate non-perishable food items like canned soup, vegetables, boxed foods, rice, pasta and others. You are also encouraged to participate in food drives, like the one coming up on Saturday, May 8, when 230 000 United States Post carriers will collect food donations left in the mailboxes during the National Association of Letter Carriers’ 18th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Just leave your donation in your mailbox and it will make it to a food bank or a pantry in need. It's fast and easy and makes a big difference for those on the receiving end. |
