Having a healthy gums and teeth can look pretty but isn't just a question of esthetics. Modern diet (refined foods, processed and synthetic foods, lots of sugar) combined with impoper care can lead to many problems, including cavities and periodontal disease. Latter one is linked to heart disease, respiratory disease, digestive problems, pancreatic cances, diabetes, obesity and preterm low birth weight babies. With some time and effort invested into proper care, your teeth and gums can stay healthy for your entire life, thus lowering your health-care costs and giving you a beautiful smile.

The main steps to take in ensuring healthy mouth are: brushing, flossing, eating right and seeing you dentist regularly. Brushing removes plaque and should be done at least twice a day, preferrably after every meal. As brush can't get to everywhere, flossing daily is necessary to remove food from inbetween the teeth. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in sugars and starches help maintaining a healthy mouth, too. Visiting your dentist twice a year ensures that all problems can be addressed early, professional cleanings keep your teeth and gums in top-notch shape.
